Sing Along With Mitch

Whilst perusing the hours of inanity stored in and on 3 Macs and assorted external drives, and lacking much in the way of creativity (insert dis here) the AI Music Department has offered us the opportunity to revisit the early days of AI recordings.  Imagine the raw excitement of Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and the Colonel in Memphis in the early fifties.  Then picture a troubled older man hunched in front of a computer with a midi keyboard and a cheap microphone & sing along to these AI songs from days of yore.  With a simple copy and paste you get:

"Travelin' Stan" - a paean to Heimsch in his globe trotting days

"Man at the Hill" - recalling Jim and his quixotic tenure at an elite boarding schools

the eponymous "Gordon" and "Maybe Bobby Paze"

Sync or Swim or Both

 Fellow Stans,

The Sunday prior to The AI is always fraught with activity, anxiety and regret.  In that vein, or perhaps artery, The AI Entertainment Committee takes this opportunity to remind all Stans that Saturday night will again feature the always embarrassing and occasionally entertaining Lip Sync.  This year we will feature our first ever submissions in absentia and even performances from Stans who will not be there.  So don't delay, pick a song, act now before midnight and receive the complete collection of AI water bottles as a special gift at no additional charge.  Shipping and handling charges not included.

Feeling upbeat about your return to something approaching normal society? You may view the Tournament Director's AI-XXIV Lip Sync here by copying and pasting the link...Have a nice day

Down With Memory Lanes

The AI Bowling Committee recently polled all Stans scheduled to attend AI-XXV to gauge their interest or lack thereof in resuming the iconic aspect of The AI known as Bowling For Sotweeds. This titular mashup of a once popular TV show and a John Barth novel has been a mainstay of The AI since AI-VII and has been dominated by the erstwhile Maplewood, NJ inhabitants, Edie and Reef.  Imagine The Committee's surprise when not only was 'lack thereof' the clear choice of the Stans, but leading the ennui were Reef and Edie.  The loudest voices in favor of BFS were Gordon, Wally and Rich.  The first two just like to watch and the latter, a multiple time BFS champion, was left agog and alone.

Thus, for only the third time since AI-VII - once at AI-X due to a chemical imbalance that left the Stans unable to move and once at AI-XVI due to an experiment with Wii bowling on the pool deck where the most excitement was trying to predict who would fall into the pool - there will be NO Bowling For Sotweeds.

To fill the time The AI S&M Committee will host the first ever AI Poetry Slam

The AI Bowling Committee thanks all Stans for their years of support and ineptitude and holds out hope that an AI without bowling will cause a groundswell, or at least a tepid tickle, for the reinstatement of BFS at AI-XXVI.  With that in mind, The Committee leaves you with these thoughts

How to play #6 at Bay Hill

Stans,

The AI began XXV years ago as a 2-day golf match at MetroWest between the 3 residents of The Apartment.  It quickly became apparent that Stans could not live on golf alone, nor were they very good at it.  Although The AI has changed (we were going to write 'evolved', but that clearly hasn't occurred) many times, lurching from one ridiculous activity to the next, golf has persevered; sort of.

For those who still look forward to the limp competition presented by AI golf, The AI Golf Committee thought it would be helpful to provide strategic insights on how best to play Bay Hill.

We start (and end) today with the always daunting, par 5 #6.
